MainBranch

Notifications

In-app and email notification preferences.

MainBranch sends two kinds of notification: in-app (the bell in the sidebar footer) and email. You control both per type.

Notification types

TypeWhen you get it
Transcription completeA meeting recording you uploaded finished processing.
Document sharedSomeone shared a Vault file with you (restricted sharing).
Data export readyA workspace data export you requested is ready to download.
Data export failedA workspace data export couldn't be generated.

Different types use different colored icon badges so they're easy to scan.

Where they appear

The bell in the bottom-right of the sidebar shows an unread indicator. Clicking it opens a popover:

  • Inbox — Unread and read notifications. Unread items are bold with a blue dot.
  • Archived — Notifications you've archived. Reachable from the menu () at the top of the popover.

Hover any notification to reveal Archive and Delete buttons. Click a notification to mark it read and jump to the related item.

The menu also offers:

  • Mark all as read
  • Archive read — moves all read items to the archived tab.
  • Delete all read — permanently deletes read items.
  • Clear all notifications — permanently deletes everything (with confirmation).
  • Delete all archived — empties the archived tab (with confirmation).

Email preferences

From Profile settings → Notifications, each notification type has two toggles:

  • In-app — Show in the bell.
  • Email — Send an email when this happens.

Toggle them independently per type.

When you don't want any notifications

Turn off both In-app and Email for every type. You'll still see meeting summaries and other content inside MainBranch — you just won't be nudged about them.

Real-time behavior

The unread count updates every 30 seconds in the background and when you focus the MainBranch tab. Reactions to your in-app notifications (mark read, archive) sync across devices.
